The Story Behind the Rebrand of Webworks and YourSocialStrategy.com
Table of Contents
There is a lot behind the scenes with the rebrand that many probably are not aware of with Webworks and YourSocialStrategy. Two companies offering the same services in Kingston, Ontario. What many of you may not realize is we are family. The owner of YourSocialStrategy.com, Mike Hepburn, is my uncle. We’ve worked together in the past and are back at it again. So how did this rebrand come to fruition? Let me share my story.
The Call For Help
As some may know, we have struggled with staff over the years. Some employees didn’t pan out, and others moved on to other opportunities. Near the end of 2021, it was me and one other employee. We were working long hours. Managing over 200 clients by ourselves was a lot of work. The thought of trying to find other employees was exhausting. I have been burned way too many times, and honestly, I just didn’t want to deal with it anymore.
We decided to connect with YourSocialStrategy.com to see about working together, which meant growing the team. My uncle and I had lunch to talk about the merging of the two companies, which quickly came to life the next day. I had lost my only employee and knew I needed help.
There is no way in hell I could pull this off on my own. I didn’t know advanced website design techniques or code, so I reached out to Mike immediately. Being my uncle, he didn’t bat an eye and wanted to help, and although we both knew this merger would happen, we started putting the plans in motion sooner than later.
Why a Rebrand was Necessary?
When both teams were officially together in January 2022, we discussed both businesses and their plans. Throughout 2021 I had been educating myself on marketing. I attended conferences and read a lot of books, and started working on a new website for Webworks. I learned a new website was on the radar for YourSocialStrategy, so we decided to take the website I had started and put it in place for both companies, which meant one website, one name.
Webworks, having “web” in the name captured a lot of website customers. Many aren’t aware we offer a lot more than just websites. For YourSocialStrategy, having “social” in the name captured more social media customers (and some SEO). It only made sense that we devised a new name to avoid confusion about what our company offered. Stay tuned, as we will be launching another article on our new company name and how we came up with it. You can read about it on October 14th.

A Shift in Focus and Messaging
Everything I have learned over the last year it’s been about providing value to your customers. I love helping other businesses with their marketing, so my focus has been on providing free tips and resources to help a business grow successfully. I want our company to be one a business trusts.
I firmly believe you have to get out in front of people, show your face in your marketing, and speak on video. I want to create a credible brand so that for those businesses that want to hire a marketing company to handle their marketing needs, it’s us they think of.
I can’t even explain the excitement I have surrounding this launch. This has been in the making for quite some time. It’s been my baby, and I cannot wait to share it with all of you.
