Table of Contents
The perfect Facebook business page setup process explained in this post will guide you step-by-step on how to optimize your page for success.
“Follow us on Facebook.” How often this is displayed. If you want to increase the presence of your business, this is a social media opportunity, but is it difficult? Our team at Aliado Marketing Group will walk you through the steps below.
Create a Facebook Business Page
In Facebook “Create a Page”. This will give you some options. Most likely you will choose local business or place, but there are others like company, organization, etc. Select the best description of your enterprise.
Settings
This tab is in the top, right-hand corner. Under the topic “edit page” you will opt for “Templates” to allow searchers to access your page. The most likely candidates are:
- Home
- Posts
- Reviews
- Videos
- Photos
- About
- Community
- Offers
- Groups
You can make changes through the Edit Page menu.
This is also a good time to identify your target audience through Facebook Business Manager UI.
Photo Op
This is the fun part you have been waiting for. This is where you insert videos or photos. It is a good place to advertise specials or just to let folks know who you are. This is separate from the profile picture.
For the profile picture, it is best to avoid text because when it shrinks down to cell phone size, it may be difficult to read. This picture is often scaled down or turned into a circle by Facebook, so carefully assess the fringes and centering. If you have loaded an image that isn’t quite right, reposition the image and hit save.
The Cover Picture or Video
Using “Add a Cover” post your shot. Just be sure that it is not fuzzy or grainy and videos are not wobbly. Videos should not last over a minute or minute and a half at the most and, again, realize they may be viewed on a phone.
Make sure it shows who or what your company is or represents. Remember that this is a business operation and not a personal account.
Keep it short and sweet. You can add lots of information and other text later, but this should be the hook to draw in visitors.
Username
This is what lets customers or browsers know what and who you are. The obvious choice is your company name. Because this is a worldwide platform, your exact name may be already in use. If you are a strictly local operation you can add the location name, like Joe’s Restaurant Your City State.
If you are more adventurous and want to be creative, just use some discretion. Something too cute may scare away potential buyers. Also be sure to consider all the implications of the verbiage. Misinterpretations are easy, as are changing a letter or two and then you are the joke of Facebook. Obviously you should avoid foul or offensive words and slurs of any kind.
Your objective is to give your company respect and still convey what you are selling or offering.
Button Up
Adding a button to engage your services is a great way to generate leads or sales. Some alternative would include a download, make an appointment, learn more, etc. Generally you will want the viewer to take a positive action toward using your business but it can also be used to offer promotions or discount codes. A more effective method might be a “shop now” that will lead directly into your purchase form or shopping cart.
Details
Go to the “About” tab and choose “Edit Page Info”. This is where you will enter all the basic data about your company like a 255 character descriptor, location, contact information, and so on.
Groups
Facebook Groups will link into your FB page and provide additional visibility, which is what you are after.
Check and Double Check
After you are very, very sure everything is accurate, you can post content.
Insights
The feature “Facebook Insights” is a good indicator of your viewers’ preferences and allow you to tailor your posts accordingly.
Messages
You will make more friends if you respond to their messages quickly. Always be polite and if you don’t have an immediate answer, let them know when you will be able to provide the information or resolve the issue. Facebook offers a “badge” for those who have a 90% response rate of under 15 minutes.
Milestones
This will offer you bragging rights about what you have accomplished. This can include new products, awards or commendations you received, years in operation, lots of stuff. They appear in the “About” section of your profile. You can add milestones by selecting “timeline” and click “offer, event +”.
Facebook Business Page Setup – Posts
Always opt for quality over quantity. As a marketing tool is should be relevant to your target audience, be well written, and be interesting. Using the best images and videos doesn’t hurt.
The best days and times to post will depend on your viewers. It is generally thought that weekends before 8 in the morning and after 8 at night won’t be timely. Do your own research and post at different times of the day or days of the week to see when you get the most responses and go with that.
Occasionally it will be a good idea to post some of your blog entries, or at least a teaser to get the viewer onto your site. Evaluate the best writing and most relevant articles and repost. Do the same with your videos. Decide which are some of the best and put some out on FB once in a while
Just don’t post for the sole purpose of a post. Be sure images are the right format and size and are as clear as possible.
