PROOFREAD YOUR CONTENT BEFORE LAUNCHING A WEBSITE

Many times when I am working on a client’s website I will find spelling mistakes or grammar issues throughout their content. When bringing over the client content, I always correct these issues as I find them. It’s important for you to go through each page of your website, read through the content, and make sure you are clear of any issues. If not, according to this article, Why You Always Need to Proofread Your Website, you may “lose readers, business, and revenue because the site contains errors. A common misconception is that website content doesn’t need to be proofread because changes can be made quickly with just one click of a button.”

OPTIMIZE YOUR IMAGES THROUGHOUT YOUR WEBSITE

It’s no secret having high-quality images are more appealing on your website than regular photos you take from your phone. Just make sure, before uploading your images to your website, make sure they are optimized. This will decrease your page speed loading time. There are many free tools out there that will allow you to optimize your images. For more information, you can watch me on our TikTok channel as I go into more detail. The tool I recommend using is called Compressor.

When navigating through your website make sure all of your links are set up and working properly. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to click something that should be a link (for example, a phone number or email address) but is not, or clicking a link and it’s either broken or going to the wrong location.  Lastly, a tip I have for linking to a document. Make sure it’s always opening in a new tab. This ensures your customer is not losing where they were on your website.

TEST YOUR FORMS BEFORE LAUNCHING A WEBSITE

Imagine a visitor submitting a form on your website and not getting a response back. You can bet this will leave a sour taste in their mouth about your business. Imagine how that would make you feel. Not only did you lose a potential customer but you don’t want to come across as unresponsive. Make sure you are verifying the email address attached to your website forms and test them. Make sure you’re receiving them. A little tip – if you do not receive them, check your spam folder. There is a good chance they are there.

When it comes to your marketing you want to make sure you are posting across all platforms you are on. This is free marketing guys, it helps get you out there! Make sure you are including these links on your website. The more you offer, the more of a following you will get.

TEST YOUR WEBSITE ON MOBILE

It’s no secret how many people are on their phones. Look around you and see for yourself. Make sure if they are visiting your website, it works well on a mobile device. If your website is not mobile-friendly, you will definitely steer your audience away and potentially to a competitor. For more information, you can read a previous article of ours, Why Mobile-Friendly Websites Are Doing Better on Google.

SET UP GOOGLE ANALYTICS WHEN LAUNCHING A WEBSITE

You have a website and now you need to watch to see what is happening on your website. The best tool for this is Google Analytics. If you don’t have one, you need one now! This is an easy tool to help you see what is working and what is not on your website. This will help address any issues so you can fix them.
